The bandage has several functions:

A sterile, non-adherent pad is placed over the wound.

In order to achieve immediate direct pressure around the wound, it is necessary to wrap the elasticized leader over the upper side of the bandage,
where the pressure applicator holding the packing guide is located.

By wrapping the leader in any direction around a limb or part of the body
the direct pressure required to induce homeostasis is applied to the pressure applicator.

In addition to its primary function, the pressure applicator also facilitates bandaging.
The elastic bandage uses the rigid shape of the pressure applicator to change direction
during bandaging and thus provides the caregiver with more options for effective wound dressing.

The subsequent wrapping of the leader secures and keeps the pad in place over the wound
and by covering all the edges of the pad it acts as a sterile secondary dressing.
The bandage leader is woven so that it stays in its full width and does not bunch up or twist.

The closure system of the bandage is multifunctional, yet simple, fast and familiar.
At the end of the leader there is a closing bar on both sides (dowel with hook clips) that secures the wrapping leader
the same way a pen is secured in a shirt pocket.
The closure bar holds the dressing securely in place over the wound site.

If additional pressure is required, the pressure head is easily removed from its first closed position
and inserted between the previous layers of introducer directly above the protruding pressure applicator and rotated.
This rotation of the closure rod acts to push the pressure rod further against the wound to develop blood-holding pressure.
